I have 3.7 BCM, here is the config:
2/6 split
Bus 2 - dsm32
Bus 3 - dsm32
Bus 4 - dsm32
Bus 5 - asm8
Bus 6 - gatm8
Bus 7 - PRI

System has 70 mailboxes and AA. I have 8 IP phones in remote offices that experience random issues with voice quallity. The system only has 2 pec cards and I was wondering if resources could the issue.

PECs won't matter for that number of IP phones. More likely than not it's a QOS issue on the link. What type of connectivity do you have between the sites?

All are single phone remote sights with dsl and vpn. I have played with differnt codecs, but can't really pin point the issue. A couple of the sights experiance almost no problems its only 2 or 3 that are having issues. A 3rd party set up the VPN with cisco pix devices, is there any thing I should have them look at?

If you are going out over the internet cloud with cable or dsl then QOS is not gauranteed.

How is the best way to accomplish this with a one person office who relys very much on good voice quallity. Are you saying it's possible that DSL cant even support 1 phone???

As stated earlier I had a 3rd party set up the VPN's and they tell me they set up QOS to give voice packets priority. Even with this could you experiance problems with the net?

The problems are only on a few phones and it's garbled at times and staticy. I have tried to swap phones with no luck.

Yep!
Consider all the devices you may pass through on the net.
Most, if any, are not optioned to prioritize packets.

Try setting your codecs to G729 and your Jitter Buffer to small. That's about the best you can do.

You may have defective PEC's as well.
You can try replacing them, but it's probably just the net.

Thanks alot for all the info everyone.

Is there any chance of loosing programming if I swap the PECs? I have 2 PECS in a BCM 4.0 I could grab just to eliminate that theory.

I will also try the G729 with small jitter.
