have a 3.7 system. a single mailbox will not light it's extension lamp. i have deleted and rebuilt the mailbox. it will light the alternate mailbox lamp however. and i can light the lamp on the phone with the message send feature (ftr 1). But the lamp will not light nor will it say message for you. yes, message waiting is ticked. shall i plan a reboot?

Restart CP in Services instead of reboot perhaps.

I assume you said Yes to Indicator when creating?

Mailbox issue/test:
Delete the mailbox and add another, but use a different DN.

Maybe another test is to add another mailbox behind another phone such as courtesy/kitchen etc

Since the Alt DN works and all else fails then I might swap DN's with another port, put an Answer DN key on the users phone for their old DN, put the new DN in the Alt DN in Mailbox?

Signs of a failing drive or BFT is usually vmail issues.

Every other light is fine. I think change DN might have been the problem, sometimes that screws things up. A reboot may help. No one even sits at the desk. It just for leaving a message.

Have you tried using a different phone or using the extension relocation feature to test it from a different port?.

Have you confirmed in that extension mailbox properties that the messaging DN indicator is the same DN as the extension?.

I've known it to be set to light up on a different extension.

Ah, yes Curlycord. It was from the "Option" range.

It's still a strange fault with the light not coming on.

Yes strangish.

Lets say the issue set DN is 300.

If creating a mailbox # 301 but using Ext:300 works then it a mailbox 300 issue (Callpilot corruption)
If creating a mailbox for another test phone/port such as a kitchen phone experiences the same issue, then major corruption has started?

"it will light the alternate mailbox lamp however."
Do you mean another phone?

or trickery like I just tested and works:
Create or change mailbox 300
Ext: 3XX (any unused DN)
Alt DN: 300

You cannot use your own DN as an Alt DN if the mailbox DN is the same.
You can only use your own DN as the Alt DN if the mailbox DN is an unused DN.

A great fix if reception or others to not need to F986 your callers.

Yes it will light alternate extensions. That trickery idea is perfect. I may have to try that!
