I have to say I was getting excited about the new BCM 4.0 with the promise that Nortel were going to take the BCM to the next level. The biggest problems I see is they have concentrated on things that are half done. Things like a 40 way conference great facility but who is going to set up a 10 way conference never mind a 40 way conference. The fact they spend the time coding the conference to be 40 calls is great but why not go all the way and create a meet me conference bridge as well. The new features are good but what about the outstanding issues that already exist with the BCM. I am trying to get a good list of areas that need to be looked and I am hoping that if enough people complain to Nortel maybe they will be addressed.

Here are my problems

7 Character names for lines and extensions.

9 Pick up groups.

Information mailboxes cannot be associated to an extension for an out of hour’s messages without the need for an AA.

Alternative routing is only available in night service or any other mode that is not normal.

Ringing service cannot make calls ring at a hunt group in night mode or any other mode.

Extensions in a hunt group are only busy if the call is on a hunt group key.

Only one hunt group key can be assigned to an extension.

If anyone can think of others please post I am in the process of gather all the info to send to our Nortel Rep.

Thanks Marshall

- only 1 hunt group key - thats a downgrade. I've used atleast 2 on a Norstar. I'll check on a 3.7 BCM as well

Alternate routing has been on wish list since the first release Ent Edge

Will Nortel be creating a DID card for the BCM 4.0? It seems somewhat ridiculous that we currently have to run a fiber from the FEM down to a Norstar Trunk Module.

Will 4.0 allow the use of F983 to reset pswds via the phone?

Analog DID modules are coming with 4.0. Supposed to work on BCM 50 R2 as well.

I believe you can use F983 for most all VM programming on 4.0.

Can't xfer to VM across the trunk. If you have centralized voicemail and the satellite end gets a call and wants to xfer to vm its not possible. Only the Local DNs to the VM system can use this feature.

Can't use 'Voice Call' across DN.

Thats my 2 complaints so far.

I will think about another one, but right now I will add this: The CDR files transfer can't be done as it was in the Norstar...in real time.
