Has anyone done the BCM upgrade from 3.6/3.7 to 4.0? Is it still in beta or can it now be purchased? How was the upgrade? The docs say only about 1.5 hours to complete? Any input? Any gotchas?

Still in beta. I haven't done the upgrade myself, but am curious to hear from anyone who may have as to how it goes.
I did hear that they are expecting 4.0 to go GA sometime in the first couple weeks of August. That's just campfire talk, so take it with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Apparently, 2.0 for BCM50 will be released first, however, that is not out yet either. Since 2.0 BCM50 and 4.0 BCM will supposedly be same code stream, perhaps they wish to use BCM50 2.X as a baseline for the larger base of BCM customers out there.

The GA for the unit with 4.0 is 16th August. The software upgrade is the 26th August.
