I have been configuring night ring on Nortel plastic for many years and on the BCM since 3.5, but I am stumped on this one. Also, I set on up on a 400 4.0 earlier in the year and it worked after a shutdown, but not this one...

BCM400 4.0 PRI was fully patched as of July 1.

I configured night ring to RG 2, attendant and VM are members, manual, trunk answer yes, correct target chosen and added to the RG2, AA yes after 6 rings, tried with/without extra dial. did 3 shutdowns with all the combos I could think of with no effect at all. I removed RG2 profile, added back, tried auto, manual, with F871 assigned to a key and without. tried adding more of the VM DNs as members, changed number of target appearances to the attendant and I ended up walking away looking like a silly ass (once again).

("Sure, I'll get it working in just a few minutes, it's a snap." yeah right!)

Attendant DN has 2 target lines assigned the main virtual and a private DID. I did not assign the private to the group as, the calls ring to the main DID always at her set.

I am at a loss...

Nortel plastic? never heard that one b4 are you just trying to get your aa to pick up when someone presses a night button? If so simply build a rg add the vmail dn as the only member and be sure to set the attendant or whatever dn that has the night key to also be the control set...
( IT'S A SNAP CROWTALKS ) dont let it beat ya!

norstarboy125: It could just be a company thing, but the Meridian guys refer to the MICS & CICS line as Nortel Plastic which is a quick differential from the CS100 PBX line.

As far as DN assignment, I've done that. I feel like I've set up a hundred of these but this one won't work.

Dasheen: I did that.

someone else may chime in on this but I had the same issue on the same system. I was told there is an issue with target lines not taking ring group programming until after a reboot. Luckily I had some spare target lines programmed and I just changed the receive digits so I did not have to re-boot.

ooh, I re-read your post. you did a reboot, hmm.

Mite try the latest patches I do believe the SU patch has one for this problem.

I'll check for new patches from our friends at Nortel...

I haven't had a chance to get back on site, I'm trying to program another network while running around putting out fire (metaphorically) at the same time, you know how it is.

I didn't find a SU patch that addresses this issue that is newer than the patches currently in place. There was a suggestion placed on another forum site that I'll try also, and I'll let you know what happens.

I found this in SU 5, might help you.

Ring Group Control Set or Line Changes Require a Power Cycle
If the Ring Group control set is changed from default to another set, the new
control set sees "Denied in Admin" when pressing F871. The originally-assigned
control set is still able to control the service. This can only be corrected
by a power cycle of the BCM.

Which set are you trying to put the service on, and is it the first port of the system?

Does the AA pick up at all with out the service mode. If not check Operator settings answer line.

OK. The 1st port is set 3221 and that is the set programmed with a night ring key. It allows her to toggle between night and normal mode all day long, it just doesn't have any effect on the number of rings before the AA answers (3 rings, normal mode). I have power cycled the system three times, pulling the plug for several seconds each time with no change.

The set 3221 and the published VM DN are assigned to the ringing group, as is the proper Target line for the main number. As I had said earlier, I have set up a hundred of these and this is the first where nothing I do works...

i'm having same problem with the same system, except when i first put it in night mode, AA answers immediately like it should. but when i take it out of night mode, back to normal ringing, AA is still answering immediately. i have to unassign the control set from the target line in order for normal ringing to occur again. POS!!

crowtalks if you ever want your aa to pick up when the attendant puts it in night mode you have to only have the vmail dn in your rg ie rg 2 (take out the attd 3221 and only have the vmail dn) this by all means should resolve the problem cause it looks like you have the rest set up...
i have always had to take out the attd set when i had to program any kind of ringing service for it to work even on norstars.

norstarboy125: I've never done it that way, but it is certainly worth trying...thanks.

I agree with norstarboy125, always take the ATTNDT. out of the Ring group and leave Vmail Dn alone.
