I need to upgrade a BCM 400 from 3.7 to 4.0. Is there a way to isolate RAID drives before an upgrade so that I have a fallback if the upgrade fails? I don't have the BIT Image Tool to fall back on if the upgrade fails. I've never had one fail but don't want to draw negative attention in this layoff rich environment.

You can unplug the RAID hard drive, but i am not sure if it will work if you plug it back after the upgrade. You might need Nortel blank hard drive.

The other way is to remove the disk and use a sector by sector disk imaging program such as Acronis to save your complete disk data as a single file on another computer and with this you can copy it to another disk or just archive it.

I've done a FAQ on this for the BCM 50 systems.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.
