Hi all,

I’m having an issue with any BCM 3.7 drive I image with the Nortel BIT software. The Apache service will not start-up! I have found the following and downloaded the files need but does anyone know the procedure with the files?

BCM 3.6 or BCM 3.7 has been bit imaged. However, since installing the new hard drive to a BCM, even after waiting for the BCM to reboot, you are able to PING the BCM, but never able to connect to https.

You can use putty (downloaded from a different BCM) successfully to connect to BCM, meaning the hard drive/operating system is available.

Problem Resolution
Use putty / serial cable login using ee_admin account (with appropriate password) and select
5) Diagnostics.
Check the Apache service is running, using the menus.

If the Apache service is not running, please open a new case with Nortel Technical Support quoting solution ID 1218403. Also, please refer to and quote solution ID 3920210 on the case (solution 3920210 refers to a problem with an upgrade and includes in-depth instructions for Technical Support to make the repair). The fix associated with solution 3920210 will resolve this problem, including after hard disk initialization.

I have gone in via the console and tried to start the service but it always fails to start.
Any help would be great.

Set the date on the BCM back to something prior to January. January 1 2006 works. Re-reun the universal profile. Set the date back to the current date when complete.
The issue is with the SSL certificate expiring early this year. When you run the universal profile and the date is before January 08, the system will register the certificate properly and allow the apache service to start properly.

Thanks for the quick reply Biv, im giving it a go now.

Nortel now have a fix for this on their website.

There are self executing files for 3.6 and 3.7

While BCM is booting up, run the file and it will update the apache service so there is no need to change date back

Tried it last night and works like a dream

NCSS, NCDS, NCTS

Good info to know. Haven't run into this issue myself for about 2 months.

yup putting the date back on the system works, many thanks!
Have a star!
