Hello fellow techs... I am trying to find out how I can upgrade a bcm 3.6 with raid to 4.0. I want to be able to use the raid as a back out proceedure in case the 4.0 fails.
When you remove the HDD caddie the drive on the top is the primary drive on the one at the bottom is the Mirror drive
Before you do the upgrade switch of the BCM and unplug the IDE cable from the Mirror drive, perform the upgrade as normal if the upgrade completes ok switch of and reconect the mirror drive and it will syncronise after about an hour
If the upgrade fails swap the mirror drive and primary around the system will boot back up in 3.6 and will re synchronise the failed 4.0 upgrade drive back to 3.6
Personally I would not do it this way I always image my drives with ghost before doing upgrades, in your case just image the primary drive..
