HI,

I have a BCM 200 that I am trying to remotly access. I got a public IP address from the IT guy. I entered it in the BCM and no luck. Is there a key code I need. Maybe I am just missing a simple step.

Thanks for the help.

If you assigned the IP address correctly you needed to reboot. Check the subnet and try to ping. If you cannot ping the BCM try another public IP address in the same range. If you can ping the other IP address then either the BCM is set up wrong or the ethernet cable is in the wrong port.

I am sure you will get this fixed quickly but are you sure that you want your system using a public IP address?
I think you are opening yourself up to a huge threat.
Good Luck.

Hi,

I enterend the Public address in the 2nd lan of the BCM and the defuat gateway on the Net hop link portion. Couldnt ping and didnt work. As for security I am changing all of the defualts so I figured I would be ok. I thinking I might have a router problem since the customer is using a low budget net gear router and I guess it could only take one IP address at a time. I dont know if I am setting it up correctly, But its the only way that makes sencse to me. Thanks for the help.

Is the netgear a router or modem. The reason I ask is if you have a public IP address then it will be a modem. If it is a router you have been give the router IP address and he has set up some sort of port forwarding to the BCM. I would check on the BCM that the next hop router is set to the Netgear router.

It is a netgear router. So are you saying use the same IP Public IP address as the router? Also What port does the BCM use. If I new the port I could Port foward to the BCM which is on the LAN already.

Thanks
Tim

That is what I am asking you what type of netgear router is it?

You would access the BCM through port 80. The same port you would access any HTTP port from. You will then be taken to a secure enviroment HTTPs port 443.But it would be the intial port you would want. But if you configure the Netgear it can be any port you want providing the port is translated to the correct IP address.

Thanks Marshall.

I will test it today. Also I checked out your website. Very Nice. Thanks Again.
