I have a new customer eith a bcm 200 that they don't know how to access element manager. The installer has gone out of business and the last administrator has left the company. The system is connected to their network via a lan port and shows activity. Can it be accessed from any computer on the system. All they want is for four phones to be able to access lines 1&2 to call out and receive calls. I was able to get into programming with a telset and changed the settings to appear and ring but none of the phones can draw dial tone. I have not worked with a bcm before and have tried to look things up in manuals and on line with no success. The customer had a different vendor come out to work on it and stayed a couple of hours and didn't correct anything charged them and left. So i'm trying to help them out.

Thanks

Going via a PC rather then a set will not help your issue but yes it is possible to access from any PC that has Element manager and that they know the user name and password.
You need to post the Release number for more answers such as Rls 3.7, 4.0 etc.

When you press a line what does it say on the display?

It was something like line not available. I was there yesterday.

Because of labor day weekend I will nor be returning there till next week. I'll get the Rls # then.

Sounds like you have programmed the wrong line numbers of there is no hardware to support your new lines or the hardware is bad or resources is miss-configured.

Best to check what MBM's they have installed to accommodate lines.
While your at it get the system ID # just in case needed - Feature **SYSID

Best to load EM on your laptop, see here for troubleshooting.

They may not know the user name and password but maybe they are at default too.

Can you call into the system using one of the connected trunks? If so, what answers? Can you determine the line number from an incoming call? Not caller id, but the trunk number. Once you determine the trunk number you can then assign it to a phone.

I don't recall seeing a 200 which wasn't 3.5 3.6 or 3.7. Could be using Unified Manager, not element manager. Knowing the software version is critical.

Could be using Unified Manager"

Good point, I thought they could not log into the current EM but reading again maybe puss1946 means they cannot find the shortcut to log in.

BCM200 can handle up to Rls 4.0 just like the 400 can.
