Okay, I have customer who wants a BCM installed as a survivable remote gateway. I'm having trouble determining if the SRG can work on a DHCP network. Does there have to be a DHCP server? Or does the SRG have to have an IP address and it's just the IP phones on it that can register via DHCP?
Also, does the SRG have to have a WAN card? Or since it's going get it's connection from a router, will the existing LAN ports do the trick?

SRG or BCM 200/400 cannot get an IP address from a DHCP server - they need to have a static address configured on them. IP sets can use DHCP (either full or partial depending on your preference). SRG does not have to have a WAN card, but does need some connectivity back to the main office, whether it's through an internal WAN card or a router external to the SRG. If using an external router, connect the SRG and router to a data switch and you should be all set. Just remember to keep QOS in mind across your WAN.
