I am going to upgrade our BCM1000 from 2.5 to 3.7 but i am being quoted over £500 for the additional RAM thats needed to get to 256mb.

Am i right in that i can just get some good matched SDRAM and it will just work fine?

What about the HDD? I am being told that i can get a programed 3.7 HDD, would this just be a drop in to the BCM or does it involve much more as the system was from a old release.

I would not be changing anything to do with the MSC cards as they have 1 keycode i would like to keep.

I've used regular PC133 memory in BCM's without issue.

If you just pop in the hard drive, you'll miss a BIOS update that happens in the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.5. In the US, that kills the modem. Not sure what it does in the UK. Might not affect anything.

If you put in a new drive, after it boots, run a universal profile, and the MSC will be updated. I'm not sure if MSC programming will be lost - it doesn't when going from 2.5 to 3.5 this way, but be prepared to reprogram the telephony if necessary.
