ACS 508. System is saysing INSERT CARD. I did insert a Back Up Restore card made sure the write protect was up and even powered down and up the system. It won't do a manual back up. Also, can I have it both back up INT and PC CARD? Any suggestions?

The backup/restore card could be defective. Just wondering, was the system set up for ASA/DXD operation?

Yup...the R7 & R8 can save configurations internally & externally.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

There have been a lot of problems with PACS R8 and the RAC card. Sometimes the card will work in the right slot when it won't work in the left. You might want to try that.

funny you should mention that cause ext 10 sometimes displays a message like ASA/DXD CARD NOT INSTALLED. we do not use these features.

If you get the ASA/DXD message, either you have programmed lines to the ASA/DXD features, or someone at Ext. 10 or 11 has dialed Intercom 891 or 892.

If you do have the ASA/DXD error message, you can remove it:
Program either an ASA [#111] or a DXD [#113] button on X10. Press the button to turn the feature on, then off. It should clear the message. You can then remove the button.

Looks like the ASA/DXD was on. I was able to use your instructions and disable them. How do I make sure that both the INTERNAL and PC back is being backed up? Can I institute a back up ad check them both?

When you back up the system, you pick which device to use (internal or external). I think the automatic backup function uses the internal.

After making any programming changes (and testing to make sure they are correct) back up to one and then the other. [smile]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Scratch that.....Option #123 (Automatic backup) allows you to select either internal or external.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

It is recommended that you set the Automatic Back Up to the PC Card. If your processor goes down, the programming can be retrieved from the card.

Whenever you make a programming change, you can back it up manually #124 to both the internal and pc card.

You are going to live this. I have the Backup card in the Partner Messageing module. I hope that did not damage it.

BTW I noticed that the Partner Messaging module has a 4 Port PC card. Is this needed or does Partner Messaging come with 2 or 4 ports already built in and is this just an expansion card? It is using ext 35,36,37,38 right now.

The voicemail does need one of those licenses in order for it to function properly. If it doesn't see a 2, 4 or 6 port license, the voicemail will boot up in Test Mode.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
