Hi,

I want to create a subreport which pulls data from two seperate databases on a single report. i.e the Outer report will be from a differnt datamart. the ID pulled from the 1st datamart will be used to run the nested query/report which pulls from a seperate database (therefore the subreport will have two different database connections)

Also how is Union MIF different from a Merged MIF?

Just answered your subreport question in the other thread!

A union will do exactly as you'd expect: brig back all the results of query1, THEN bring back all the results of query2, appended to the first query.

A merge MIF will take a record from query 1, take one from query 2 and (with code) merge the two into one datarow.

The problem with union filter is that the data rows are not appended side by side. In other words I want to be able ton view the ID pulled from the 2nd query right next to the ID pulled from the 1st query.

Right now, my union report has the 1st query and then the 2nd query is appended at the bottom.

Can i manipulate how the data is displayed on the report using a union filter or do I have to use a merged filter?

Look at my answer for a sub report in the other thread; let me know if you have any questions about that.
