The problem I'm having is that I've changed both Console Telnet to "local password" and have changed both Read-only and read-write passwords. YET, I can still get in and make settings changes with Device manager without changing the Community passwords from their defaults.

If I try to telnet it does properly prompt me for a password. But I have confirmed that I can make settings changes with device manager without configuring the correct passwords.

I have tried rebooting the switch.

Thanks for your help!

I figured it out.. the Java Device Manager doesnt use the console or telnet to login... it uses SNMP auth info..

I changed it through telnet and the settings were then how I wanted them to be applied.
