Bought a used 310-24t off ebay [yeah I know not the best move but the price was right ^_^]. I am trying to get into the boot menu however i do the ". + enter" during the booting process, I get no return and it continues with the standard booting process.
I have not worked with baynetworks switches before [heard good things from friends so I wanted to give them a shot], does the password prompt give any kind of a return on an invalid password? As you can guess I am trying to get in to the boot menu to flush the password but currently I am not sure if it is even recieving my input.
[8n1 standard serial cable, null modem cable was not working for me], any thoughts or suggestions?

You will have to call 800 4NORTEL in order to reset the password. The documentation does not specify other than to call the vendor. Sorry.

Serial port is wired straight-through. 8n1 9600 is standard, but some people change it. Try 19200. Try turning flow control off in your terminal settings.

If you do not see anything on the serial port, you may want to press CTRL + y and see if that prompts you for a password. Make sure you use the correct settings on HyperTerminal.
If you are successful you will be asked for a password or taken directly to the switch menu. If you still do not see anything, could be that you are using the wrong settings or that your cable is not the correct one. The settings should be 9600, 8, none, 1 and make sure the emulation is VT100. If the problem is the cable, you can get a console cable from Radio Shack, the part number for it is RS 26-152B.

If the switch asks you for a password you can use tEmpEst_sAvEr within a few seconds from the switch requesting a password.
