BayStack 28115 FLASH Upgrade

I recently got a baystack 28115 from an ebay auction. Thanks to Australia Post the Motorola processor was hanging on by a single pin (a few internal nics pulled out..) but we wont go there. =)

I noticed that the fireware version is 2.0.4.6. and i wanted to know where i can obtain the latest firmware upgrade 2.1.1.6? Also, has anyone done a FAQ on upgrading the fireware on the SynOptics / BayStack 28115?

I registered at support.baynetworks.com but it is sooo hard to try and get the fireware i gave up.

Will this new image stop the pinging that goes on? I chucked a packet sniffer on the network and the 28115 keeps sending these blastered LLC packets. It's driving me nuts.

Adam,

Are you running lattispan or spanning tree, if you are using lattispan, re-configure the swicth to use spanning tree and check your sniffer trace then.

Well, got my linux box to upload the new image to the BayStack. No probs there. But still the BayStack keeps sending these packets to the network; and the sad part about it is that they propagate from one segment to the next.

802.1D seems to create twice as much traffic as Lattispan; because it sends a packet of its own. This LLC and a Spanning Tree Packet.

The LLC appears to be empty. I don't understand why it is sending them or how to stop it. As a rough shot, is the switch trying to avoid routing loops being created by two or more bridges or something?
