I have a 2 cabinet Magix. Can anyone recommend a UPS size that would keep the system up for at least a half hour?

According to the website's UPS sizing tool you need atleast a 1500kva ups ... without adjuncts.

Just keep in mind whatever UPS you buy the industry standard is a power factor of .7 so you will only consistantly run 70% of advertised va output. Also, make sure it is FCC compliant and has an adjustable LVD (low voltage disconnect).

Once you figure your controller's output (i.e. 1500kva) you just need to buy how many ever battery cabinets you need for additional holdover time.

Online UPS technology is best and is now widely available. MAke sure your switch room is 77F or cooler since battery life is negitively impacted by temps over this.

Find out the lifespan of your batteries, too. I prefer avaya's UPS because with a maintenance contract they swap it for free when the batteries expire. ALL sealed lead-acid batteries are proned to "thermal runaway" which can lead to small explosions, fires, and chemical hazards if left unchecked. By law all used lead-acid batteries are hazardous waste and avaya pays for the removal under your maint contract.

Avaya's UPS systems are rock solid, with a gold price. There is nothing wrong with them, but they are a little pricey. TipHelp@charter.net

I have got an APC 1000XL on a 3 cabinet legend at it seems to work fine. Powerware also makes some very good UPS systems. They are better than APC in my opinion.
