I have several old batches that I want to delete. The posting of the data has already been taken care of in another manner. All, I want to do is delete them. Is it possible to just go into SY00500 and delete the batch? What happens to all the records associated with the batch?

Thanks,

If you just delete the record from the SY00500 table, the transactions will remain in the tables, and you will only be able to delete them with sql scripts. The easiest thing to do is delele the batch in Great Plains, which will remove all tranactions out of all tables. However, if you're not able to do so because of errors etc., first check the main work tables (ex SOP10100 table for unposted sales) for that batch. If no transactions exist, you can just delete it out of the SY00500 table.

Yes, the old batch has a record in SOP10100. It also has record(s) in SOP10106 the comments table and SOP10102 the distribution table. It doesn't have anything in SOP10200 the line item table or in SOP10105 the tax detail table.

This record is from 1998. I can't post it even if I wanted to. An entry was made in 1998 to balance without posting this record. How do I remove this batch entry with removing all of the detail?

You can run a delete on the SY00500 for BACHNUMB='', but if the transaction will never be posted, you should delete the transaction as well. Are you able to select the batch in sales batch and print an edit list? If so, just delete it in this window to remove the batch and the transaction.

Yes, I can print an edit list. Near the top it list a dollar amount for Batch Total Actual. But that is the only place a dollar amount is listed everything else is zero dollars.
I also get errors

The receivables distribution(s) does not equal the actual amount.
The sales distribution(s) does not equal the actual amount.
The inventory distribution(s) does not equal the actual amount.
The commission sale total does not equal the commission sale amounts.
The payment number is not reserved in Receivalbes Management.

How do I fix these from 1998. That's how old this is.

If this entry has already been fixed in the GL, why can't you just delete the batch?

GP won't let me delete the batch, I have tried. I ended up going into all the table in the back end, but I don't know if I got them all. I deleted from SOP10100, SOP10106, SOP10102, SOP10101 and SOP10103.

If you're unsure of getting all the tables, run check links on the sales work, which will remove the records from a table that you missed.

cool, I was going to start running that before I went home tonight. Thanks,
