Batch from 1998, will not post or delete. How do I get rid of it?

I have a batch that is open from 1998. It has one transaction in it. When I try to post it, it does not work. I didn't think this would since the FY is closed. When I tried to delete it, it did not work either. Nothing I have tried from the front end seems to work.

From the backend I see the record in the SY00500 it has a series of 4 (purchasing). From the front end I can see an open (WORK) item under Payables Transaction Inquiry -Zoom. I found the PM_Transaction_Work table,PM10000. Here I see one record. Within the Erwin diagrams it shows 4 additional related tables to PM_Transaction_Work, I have checked those additional tables but no records exist in them.
They are
PM10200 --PM_Apply_To_WORK_OPEN
PM10300 --PM Payment WORK
PM10201 --PM_Payment_Apply_WORK
PM20200 --PM_Distribution_OPEN_OPEN

How do I remove this open batch? Can I delete this record from PM10000 and SY00500? Are there any other tables I should be looking into?

First, go to file-maintenance, and choose checklinks. Then choose the series of purchasing, and payables transactions. See if that gets rid of it.
If not, then remove the data from the tables as you mentioned above.
One note on checklinks. Perform at the server, and then print the report to the screen. It can be lengthy at times...

also, make sure that there isn't a user logged in since 1998 locking the transaction/batch


I would just delete the transaction via sql, it's obviously not affecting anything if the year has been closed since 99
