I am having a problem backing up to a CDR / CDRW on a Win XP machine using a batch file and the Xcopy function.
What I am doing currently works fine on another XP machine.
Insert CDR
Right click on drive in My Computer. Select Format and format disk.
Run batch file which contain this main commands:
xcopy "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Folder" "D:\BACKUP\ Folder \" /D/R/H/S/Y
In the new machine I am currently working on, when I right click on the disk in My Computer, there is no format option. In control panel – disk management the option is greyed out.
If I try to format a CDRW disk from the command window with something like
format D: /FS:FAT32, I get the following response:
The type of file system is RAW. Cannot format. The volume is write protected.
If I try to run the batch file withour going throught the format process, I just get a “drive is unavailable” message.
What do I need to do to make this process work, please?
