Hi Guys

I have spent hours trying to find a way to batch edit the "properties" "summary" of jpg images. Can I do this using Photoshop? I dont want to edit the EXIF data, it is specifically the 6 fields when you right click on a jpg, and go to "properties" then "summary". The fields are 'Title' 'Subject' 'Author' 'Category' 'Keywords' 'Comments'.

I have 3000 files where I need to input this data, and cant find a way to batch edit them...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

James

I would personally use Perl - do you have access to this?

I'll explain why:-

Perl is superb when it comes to the manipulation of text. JPEG files contain plaintext header information you mention and this can be altered using a scripting language - Perl being my recommendation.

I was given a whole bunch of broken DCS files a while ago - someone had written a big bunch of scans - from a Mac - to a ISO9660 CD and managed to truncate all of the filenames. This caused the 5th part to lose the CMYK plates. I wrote a script to examine the CMYK plates and locate the full filename to rebuild DCS files - by renmaing them on the text string found. Your problem sounds very similar.

If you can get access to Perl i will be glad to help you write what you need.

Kind Regards
Duncan
