I have about 100 files that need to be converted from a pdf to jpg. I have followed all instructions to create an action before doing the batch process by first opening a sample graphic and then recording my actions by selecting "save for web" and saving it to the destination folder as a medium resolution jpeg at a quality of 40 and optimized. After saving it I close and select the option not to save the changes before closing. When I go to run the batch process of this action I select the pdf source folder and check the boxes to avoid the file open options dialogue and color profile warnings. I then select the destination file and the Overide Action "Save As" Command. However when I try to run the batch I receive an error message that states "The paramaters for the command 'Open' are not currently valid". I have tried the same process adding in a selection of the Overide Action "Open" Command and have received the following error message "The command 'Export' is not currently available". I have also tried recording the actions including the opening of a file and have ended up with all of the files saving to the same name when I run the batch conversion. I am at a total loss on how to convert these files from pdf to jpg. Any help would be very much appreciated.

The only thing that comes to mind is PShop can't find the command "export" because maybe the plug-ins directory is hosed.

This is just a guess but can you check the preferences, Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins to see if they point to:
c:\program files\adobe\photoshop vxx\plugins

If not you will need to change this or reset your preferences to factory settings.

Again this is only a guess.

I have reset my plugins to the factory plugins and I am still unable to get the export function to work in my batch conversion. Is there anything else that I could be doing wrong? I have read all instructions that I can find on the internet and within the help menu on Photoshop and am still getting the same errors. Does it matter if I am using PShop CS2?

Thanks!!!

If you go to File menu/automate/batch, you 'll get the premade batches window. In the Set drop down, choose Production. Then look in the Action drop down for a premade that suits your needs - like save as jpeg.

Teh action you wont to record would go like this: Open Actions Window and select New action and give it a name. Open an image in Photoshop. Hit the start recording button on the actions window. Do what you have to do - like save as jpeg. Hit the stop recording buton.

I have saved the action as you describe above, however even though the action works whenever I open files in PShop and apply the action, it will not work when I try to run a batch process.

Thanks for your help!

Are these pdf images each a separate file or are they all in one pdf. If they're in one, no batch will work. In that case you can use file menu/automate/multipage pdf to psd and then run the save as jpg batch on the psds.

If you have acrobat pro, you can open any pdf and 'save as' jpg - resulting in all individual files automatically. You can also go to the Advanced menu/export all images.

It is a folder full of seperate pdf files.

Thanks again for all the help!
