Hi,

I am in need of optimizing around 350 gifs for our company site, I am using photoshop 6 to do this and I was wondering whether anyone knows how to create batch scripts so I could automate the process, I have had a brief look in the help section but to know aveil,

Any suggestions helpful,

Cheers

I don't think Photoshop has any method for developing macros. Generally speaking, manipulating graphics is not something that can be done with an automated program. That is why we are called graphic artists, if a computer could tweak an image better than a human being, then we would be out of jobs. :)

There used to be a standalone program called gif optimizer, if you do a search on Google you will probably find it, that did a competent job of optimizing for web and had maybe one or two less step than PS needs. Otherwise, I guess you better get a pot of coffee brewing and get ready for some blisters on your mouse finger! When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hi,

It is possible to do some batch automation.
Open the Actions. Take the little arrow on the top richt, select new action, give it a name and click the "start recording" command.
Open the gif you wan't to optimize, do your optimations and when your happy with the result click on the little arrow on the top and click stop recording.
Now your action has been recorded. so close the origina file without the changes.
Go to automatisation under the File menu and select batchj processing.
First you select the action you wan't to use then the watched folder and then destination folder.
Click OK and all the gifs that are in one folder will be optimised the way you did with your first gif and saved in the new folder.
That's the way to do it.

hope this helps

grillhouse, thanx... once again I am humbled...

I was wrong.. there is a batch under File>Automate>Batch...

I was looking in the worng place for batch commands.. I have been using PS since vs3, and have never even thought about automating anything, so never tried. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
