Im no pro at this lol.

Anyways, I recently recieved a bat virus from someone and I would like to know how to get rid of one. ALL my files open in notepad! Except pictures. :p It´s only programs.

I went to "search" and found a couple of interesting things. Files. I can´t seem to open them though. I´m not sure weather to delete them or not. Here are SOME file names:
"Bat.kfm"
"Bat.inf"
"Bat_Attack_Bip01_Attack.kf"
"Bat_Stand_Bip01_Run.kf"

Theres many more including two folders. "Bat" and "GoldenBat". I deleted these and nothing happened. It´s all staying the same.......

If I could get help on this, it would be great.

PS: I would provide you with a screenshot if I could. Paint is... messed up by the bat virus.
PPS: If anyone could tell me a great website to report someone that sent me the virus, it would be GREAT!
PPPS: I also need specific details on the help. I have many files!
PPPPS: And one last thing, I know those files could be the bat virus because 1. I haven´t named anything called "bat" and 2. LOL they are named "BAT"!

Thanks in Advance.

Can you access websites? If so, try going here for a scan:

I put the 65 in there, as it's strait to the newest scanning engine. You just have to accept the terms of use, and click "launch". And you might have to install a java file or explorer add-in to get it running.

If you can get that to run, it's pretty good at getting rid of all sorts of Malware.

If that doesn't work, see if starting in Safe Mode will at least let you open your programs normally...

Thanks for the help. I have cleaned my computer and amazed I found one virus. Alrighty. I have another question. So now that I´ve removed the virus and all, how is it possible to revert my files into what they were before?

What do you mean, precisely, as to "my files into what they were before?"

You mean your program settings and all? That's simple: Either customize each one back to where you had them.... Or if you had a restore partition or image of your install, you could use that.

That's all I know of. [wink]
