Very new to CM (using 7.1.2). Need to update about 40 of 350 devices. Is it safe to export using BAT -> Import/export-> Export ->Device Date->Phone (Check dependencies). Download and edit the CSV and then import it. Main question is - will it override updated records and not change existing records. Thanks and sorry if already answered somewhere, was unable to find info.

BAT for Updating Many Devices

Depending on the information that you are attempting to update you very well may be able to complete this using the Bulk Administration feature in CM. You can update phone and line information by selecting the phones and features through CM.
