Hi Guys (and other Gals),

I am running Windows ME on a P4 PC.
I want to have a Bat file run either after Windows starts or before it starts but I can not figure out how.

I have written a test bat file to just display info on the screen and put a shortcut to it in the startup folder but it doesn't max the DOS window and run okay. It just shows up in the Windows task bar as a running pgm.

Any help wud be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Cindy

what does it do? does it need to run maximised? have you changed its properties so it will run maximised?

I know ME doesn't use autoexec.bat like 9x, but have you tried putting it in there? (I haven't - and don't use ME apart from the odd pinball game now!)

Along the lines of what wolluf says, typically I put the batch file in its own folder (say c:\scripts), then I put a shortcut to the batch file in the startup folder. If you go to the shortcuts properties, you should be able to run it full screen, or as a maximized window (at least i believe that's accurate from memory). If you can't get it, post what the batch file does, even the file itself if you can.

Matt J.
