Basics of setting up a firewall to protect wireless network

Hello..

I just recently set up a wireless network at home. Can anyone walk me through the basics of setting up a firewall or doing those encrytions to prevent hackers from breaking into my connection?

What hardware are you using?
Most wireless access points also include a router/firewall. Cheers,
