Hi all,

we have an existing network of one server running win2k server, and it has 10 clients.... in the office we have 1 main phone line connected to a phone which acts as a switchboard and we have internal extensions of another 4 phones....
We were thinking of possibly transferring this system to run it through our server using telephony software.... does anyone here have advice of whether this is a bad move or good move?

there is no particular reason for this move, just want to experiment a little and see what the pro's and con's are really... any good articles? websites?
would it be expensive to transfer such a system to the new proposed system? any ideas on price range?

thankyou

Do u have only one line into the office? If u have more than one line, do all calls have to go thru the operator? What are u using for voicemail?

It seems to me that your network setup (whilst probably perfectly adequate for your business needs) may need to be improved substantially to support VOIP. You ay also have to invest quite heavily in training support staff...

Quite honestly, if your existing phone system isn't adequate, you would be well advised to get a small well featured traditional PBX. Unless, of course, you have a business need fo VOIP...

That all being said, maybe somthing like swyx may fit the bill.

VOIP readyness assesment may also help

Take Care
