I have windows 2003 server and i have a basic windwos STMP server setup for a website. The website is an asp.net site and sends out emails from the server when the user submits their email address. I do not want to block SMTP all together but I just noticed that my queue folder was full of junk emails which means my SMTP must be open to the public or something. How can I fix this?? Thank you.

Since you are just sending email and not receiving, you can set-up delivery access to block incoming mail. I don't have IIS in front of me so I am going off of memory... There should be an "access" tab untder the SMTP properties, look for an authentication button. Remove Anonymous access and click basic authentication, incoming mail should now be blocked. Make sure that Anonymous access is still enabled for outbound mail. You will find that under the delivery tab.

If that doesn't provide a solution for you then look at blocking inbound port 25 (to the SMTP server's IP) on your firewall.

Hey WhoKilledKenny, I cant seem to get your method to work without my asp.net application thats on the server to stop sending mail as well. Any other options maybe you left out? Let me know thanks.
