If you install the IIS properly with out any error message then you can access the web site by typing the name of your server in explorer or by writing the localhost in browser(localhost will work only on local computer where IIS installed).
If you wants to access any other web site on default web site you can define its path by right click on default website->properties->home directory-> browse now you can define any other site as default web site.
If you are not on the same network as the server when trying to view the default page, be sure you setup your DNS properly. "It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission." - Rear Admiral Dr. Grace Hopper
RE: my previous message it is a permission problem is it possible for you set permissions on winnt drive for everyone full control after installation reset the permisssion.
Remember to check including subdirectory after installtion remove everyone for full control.
I have winNT4.0 and I can not start the default web site.
Start-Programs-windowsNT4.0 Option Pack-MicroSoft Internet Information Server-Internet Service Manager-Default Web Site (Stopped).
I have right clicked on that and clicked Start option there. But no use. There is no response.
As the default web site is not working, no other site is working. I can not work with FrontPage Web sites I have built on my PC.
