I think this is a basic DNS question...How do I configure our DNS server to point clients to a private IP address, instead of a public IP address? For example, we have a web-based email system that is accessible from the Internet, with a Public IP, but is also accessible via a private IP. I would like for clients that are on our LAN to use the private IP. This works as I would like if I configure the HOSTS file on a single machine, but I need to do this for all clients that use this local DNS server. Do I add a new DNS zone, with a new host (A) record? Any help would be appreciated?
