Basic Crystal Questions 1

Hi All,

I have 8.5 Developer edition loaded on one computer. What do I have to do to view a report on another computer? I put the .rpt file on the second computer but that didn't work. Do I have to compile it on the first computer first somehow?

The funny thing is I have .Net loaded on the second computer. The .rpt file asked whether to associate with that but that is not what I am trying to do. I have a client who wants version 8 reports. Can developer 8.5 create version 8 reports?

Can the Crystal in .Net Studio 2003 be used?

You can export as Excel, Word, PDF etc. Use the Export icon, the envelope with the downward red arrow. Options include exporting as Crystal 7, though I've no idea how this would work out.

Also check if you have the latest patches and dlls. Last year, there was a change in Crystal 8.5 that improved it a great deal. If your export-choice says Excel Extended rather than MS Excel 97, then an update should fix it.
