Although MySQL seems to be working on my Windows 98 m/c I feel its very sluggish.

I just have a basic my.ini in Windows Folder (see below)
When I copy a CNF file to c:\my.cnf & run WINMYSQLADMIN it gets renamed to my_cnf.bak (& presumably ignored)
Why ??

#This File was made using the WinMySQLadmin 1.1 Tool

[mysqld]

datadir=C:/MYSQL/data
#language=C:/MYSQL/share/your language directory
#slow query log#=
#tmpdir#=
#port=3306
#set-variable=key_buffer=16M
[WinMySQLadmin]
Server=C:/MYSQL/bin/mysqld.exe

If I remember it correctly, winmysqladmin has a section for configuration. You should make all changes there, as winmysqladmin will overwrite your configuration files. //Daniel

Winmysqladmin is also a security hazard, use it at your own risk.

Can't say anything more, too much happy juice :) ______________________________________________________________________
