I have added some aliases to my .bashrc file. However, I don't want to keep signing into the server and do "source ~/.bashrc" everytime.

I have tried adding that code to .bash_profile and .bash_login but it still will not source the file.

What am I doing wrong? I appreciate any help.

How are you logging into the machine? Are you using SSH?

MikeyJudd,

Check your SHELL on the remote system. If it is not /bin/bash, then it will not read the bash login files.

For example:

$ printenv SHELL
/bin/bash
