I'm setting up the MS Baseline Security Analyzer. We have two separate networks... one internal that is not connected to the outside at all and another that is for internet usage.
I have set up the analyzer on my workstations on both. The internet side is working fine. The internal one however returns an error "could not access security update xml file" and also says it's an incomplete scan. Some things are missing in the scan, although most of it seems to be there.
I downloaded the xml parser 4.0 from MS in the hopes that that would be all it was. There was some reference to this in the documentation. But it still is erroring. Does it need to be somewhere in particular in the PC? Or is there something else I am missing?
I have windows 2000 and I am scanning my own PC for now. The rest of our networks are mixed win2k and NT4. The interenet side where all is working OK is mixed, so I don't think it is O/S related. If it is going out to the web for XML info... there must be a work around for an internal network... I would hope.
Thanks for your time...
