BARS FAILURE

I am using bars 3.5.44 When trying to do a backup to tape I get the following error message

open media request returned - error code 23

Basically I am unable to any format type or write anything to tape.

when doing a local backup everything works OK but to tape it does not.

I have tried different tapes and cleaning tape but no luck

any ideas?

Have you tried a different tape drive!!

wouldn't it be easier to do it locally and then put on tape? that's what i do. bars is scheduled to write to the network drive which gets backed up later by tape.

The server only has 1 tape drive and you can only configue BARS to send to local tape drives

have tried that but bars cant write anything to Tape at all!! same error message 23

To restate what ys211 is saying, set BARS to backup to a network drive that is backed up to a tape. Don't try to send the Backup straight to a remote tape.
