We are looking at barcoding invoices which we are producing out of MIMS so that we can scan it and electronically read the cheque when the customer makes the payment.
Has anyone else done this, who did you go about it?
I've seen a couple of Mims sites which produce a custom format of the Invoice Statement (I think it's msrstp.rdl or msroip.rdl). They send the RDL output through a forms-based document software package (in this case is was Werx4 from Spinifex, but Mincom probably can do it via their Output Designer package). The document produced had a "tear-off" section. You could print a barcode on the "tear-off" which your customers could return with their cheque.
(If you're interested in the Werx product and its barcoding capability, see
or talk to Mincom about their Output Designer product - I understand you can also talk to Mincom about the Spinifex Werx product too as they were involved in the implementation of it at some of their sites.)
You'd probably need a bit of custom software to talk to the barcode reader device and talk to Mims - you could probably utilise the Mincom Connector product to handle the Mims side of things (I don't know anything about barcode readers).
