I am looking for some advice regarding barcodes. What I would like to do is create unique barcodes for each customer, so that when I scan there barcode, all their relevant information pops up.

So here is the question: Where can I found out how to

1) Create a barcode
2) Print out that barcode using paradox 9

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Richard

Richard,

It's easy to do using a barcode font, I use "Wasp Bar Code Fontware" it comes with a variety of different barcodes.

In a Paradox report all you have to do is create a field with the customer id number and use the appropriate barcode font. Barcodes generally require starting characters and ending characters, you will have to add these to the customer id, it's easy to do with a text or calculated field.

I have been putting invoice number barcodes on my Packing Slips and Invoices this way for years and it is a real time-saver. I also print the same barcode on shipping labels but to do this I use the programing language that is embedded in the printer, I simply use Paradox to send the codes to the printer by sending a textstream to the printer port.

Hope this helps
