We have had problems with barcodes being incorrectly recorded in the database and have now turned off the barcode feature.
Has anyone had any experience re-implementing barcode?
What problems were encountered, if any?
Also, is there a way to manually update the barcode field in the database?

To rephrase your problem, when you add a volume and label it from barcode, the barcodes doesn't match to what is physically on the disk? If this is the case it could be a problem with the barcode reader in the library or the barcode stickers on the tapes could be of a poor quality.

I only way I know of is to change barcode labels for use in Legato is to label them under Operations by hand.

No problem to change barcodes, as long as you know you will lose all data on the tape. (thus, wait till its expired)

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Can you provide more information about "label them under Operations by hand"? We are running 5.1 on UNIX and 5.5.4 on NT and don't see any Operations functions on the GUI's.

Click on the Devices icon, where you will then see your tape drive(s). Right click on desired drive and select operations. There you have the ability to add and delete volumes.

cheers
George

Also,

Can be a problem with nsrjb.res.

Try deleting it -> running jbconfig -> run inventory. "Long live king Moshiach !"
