Can anyone recommand a Barcode verifier (the cheaper the better i.e. a handheld wand)?

will these products also check the quality of my bar code i.e. scratches.....

thank you

Verifiers are not cheap
PSC make one, I think it's $1200.00
Symbol makes a portable palm pilot scanner though which is at sale in Office Depot Stores. It $149.00 and can tell you what kind of barcode it is and the characters. It does not tell anything about the quality of the barcode. For the most part barcodes either scan or they won't.

If you need a great barcode all the time a Laserjet 600 dpi or better is the best on the planet. Because it is 600 dots per inch the barcode is inpecable. Next is a special barcode printer by SATO or Zebra or others These print at 203 dpi or 300 for high end models. Next is Inkjet and dead last is Dot Matrix Printer. DougP, MCP

We use a Symbol SPT1500. The operator scans every X out of Y labels.

You can also get a keyboard wedge for around $100.00, or get a cue cat if you wanna get real cheap.

Zebra, Printronix, and other thrmal transfer mfgs sell add ons to their printers that scan as theye print. But as Doug pointed out, they ain't cheap. Tyrone Lumley
