barcode reader inputs only the last 4 digits of the 13digits

hi, am trying to implement a barcode reader in the POS system @ my workplace.the problem is the reader reads only the last 4 digits of the 13 digits(its an EAN13)and shows the digits on the screen.it therefore cannot correctly display the name of the article in the description textbox.The POS system is written in Visual Foxpro.
what i need it to do is display the first seven digits of the barcode.thank you very much

Your Visual Foxpro field may only be set for 4 characters.
Read the same barcode into Notepad and see what comes on the screen.

If it is still only 4 characters, then your reader may be set to truncate the reading.
