Hi,

I'm using a barcode 3of9 TrueType Font printing on an HP laserjet and have not had any problems scanning the barcode. We now have a new application that prints to a dot matrix OKI Pacemark 3410. According to OKI this printer is barcode capable, but our scanners still will not read these barcodes. Anyone have any input or idea's?

Thanks!

Can you scan the problem barcode?
I can tell just by looking at it.
Is is possible to send me an attachment?
Or FAX
Remember the barcode scanner needs to see clean white spaces in between the barcode lines. The light from the scanner reflects off the white of the paper. Set the laserjet barcode next to the dot matix one and see how they compare. If you make the barcode larger it may work becasue the white space is bigger and tends to be more distinct as the size gets bigger. It just takes a little bit to mkae it work or not.

Dot matrix printers sometimes have draft & quality modes- maybe you're in draft mode and the black isn't black enough and / or the edges of the black areas are not crisp enough. Also, is the stationery you're using of a decent whiteness- maybe you're using a 'cheaper' continuous stationery rather than the 'quality' bond you would use in the HP, and maybe it's relatively yellow? Thanks for the info. I will try to print the barcode in quality mode and let you know how it works. Also, I have tried two different types of paper, but I have not tried to print the barcode on laser paper (which works with the laser printer). I will try this as well and let you know what happens.

Thanks again.
