Has Anyone tried to write a routine for calculating the
control digit on a code 3 of 9 barcode?
There is a sequential number for the barcode
like 16 2673481 5 (this is the calculated control digit)these barcodes are for a charity raffle.
Anyone out there with any advice, ideas or actual code?
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bar code check digits vary by the usage. The publishing industry uses a "mod 11" process. Other groups use different procedures - some of which are also called "mod N. The Publishing Industry one is not -strictly speaking- a simple mod, but uses the modulo function on the sum of the product of the product of the digits times their position, generating a value which is then "looked" up to obtain the check digit.

You can get the entire process from "R. R. Bowker" (they maintain the "Books in Print" catalogue for the publishing industry).
