BARCODE CODE 128 ADVISE

I am running Cx 8.0 against SQL Server.
The requirement is to produce a report that reads 5 digit Client-id's from the database, wraps these Id's in a selection of Control characters and start and stop characters and a trailing Checksum.
Has anyone achieved this and what is the best way to go - a dll that returns the checksum for you ?
We are using Code 128 as the Barcode.
