Bar Code software for computer inventory

Sorry if this has been asked many times, forgive me. i searched but couldn't find anything. I am looking at possiblities for computer inventory. I'd like to bar code each computer and include: Ip addess, serial number of computer and monitor, software on that machine, and etc. Is there somethign out there that isn't that expensive that can get me started with out a lot of pain and struggling? Please advise me. Thanks.

Crystal Reports can make some easy barcode labels for this type of environment. Easily attaches to database and print ok just as long as it it not too small.

There are many solutions out there for inventory control applications. You can find some pretty inexpensive solutions to major $$$. There is one canned program which you can modify that runs about $995 for a single user program. Keep in mind, that is list price. You should be able to get it for $200 less than that. NEVER PAY LIST PRICE IN THE BARCODE INDUSTRY!!! Anyway, as I was saying, what you are seeking to do is fairly simple. You can look at that program and even download a demo version at

That is one solution. There are tons of solutions you can look at online at two barcode industry websites. Great places to educate yourself and look at similar applications. Has a vendor directory.
