Is there a way to confirm that the Bar Code Reader option was selected when installing the Tape Library Option? Another person installed the software, so I am unsure if it was selected or not. At the moment when I go to format a tape, it is not being given a serial number to reflect the bar code on the tape. Any enlightnment greatly appreciated

Use the Device Configuration Wizard.

Run it, and step through the first few screens (It will require you stop the tape engine.)

At some point, after you have configured the library/tapes, there will be a checkbox for "Bar code reader installed". (Sorry I can't give you a more exact screen descrition, but I can't shut dowm my own tape engine right now to look it up.)

If you have a bar code reader, this needs to be checked for ARCserve to use it.

Note that I have seen ARCserve "forget" about the bar code reader from time to time, and start acting strangely. I run the wizard again and the box has become un-checked. Re-checking it fixes things (for a while).

Good Luck.
