I am writing bar code sentence fragments using Corel (Ver.7) It creates an img. When I print to acrobat writer or distiller, the bar code stripes become almost like a solid black bar with a few thin white vertical lines here and there. Using bar code std of "Code 39" (selectable in the Corel wizard.)

I turned off the embed fonts and compressions in various trial attempts to create a scanable pdf. However, if the source is an img, the fonts should not apply anyway, right? Any ideas how to get a true barcode image to go to be a .pdf ?

In one attempt, I actually pasted the img from Corel to MSWord, then tried making the .pdf from Word. Same unwanted outcome. I also looked through any settings in Corel to see if its preferences or such is compressing/converting/etc before printing to Acrobat. Don't find anything obvious there, so thought I'd see if anyone on this forum has guiding experience with .pdf-ing bar codes.
Thank you

Did you change your magnification in the PDF? Did that help?

What kind of compression did you use on the image when creating the PDF?

Did you print the PDF? Did it print clean?

Acrobat has a known display limitation. See the FAQ at for Acroabt (Windows). B I L L S W A L L O W

I've gone back through a couple time since your response. Gotten a little better outcome in the look of the pdf barcode by unchecking "use color profile", no compression (as before) and uncheck "subset True Type" on the font embed. Will have to test the printout and see if it scans accurately, though it looks a lot better. Thanks for the heads up on the FAQs. Was helpful!
