We are planning to use Jave SDK on Websphere to create crytal reports using templates, then converting to pdf on the server side, and streaming the pdf to the browser. The report has barcode in it, it uses "3 of 9 Barcode" Font, which is a true type font.
I have used activeX viewer with IIS earlier and have seen that the BarCode Font has to be there on the client browser PC in order to see it correctly in the viewer. Now, I am not sure if the barcode will be visible correctly, as it has to be created and converted to pdf on Unix side.
I was not able to test this because I could not get all the jar files of the Java SDK in the 30 day evaluation copy from crystal. Has anybody tested something like this? Please help..

Thanx and Regds,
Rathna.

It will work. we are doing this at our company. A PDF is made up of vector graphics. The barcode has to exist on the machine that is rendering/creating the PDF document. In other words, the job server needs to have the font installed on it if you are scheduling it as a PDF. If you are scheduling as a Crystal Report and then exporting it, the machine doing the export has to have the barcode.
