Bar chart widths

I have some reports with bar charts that run each day and result levels can vary considerably, so on one day the chart may have 5 bars and on other days the chart may have only 1 bar. When there are less bars the width of the bar increases - if there is only one bar then the chart has one big fat bar - I have been asked if there is a way to limit the width of these bars so that the charts look better. I guess the issue is the charts do not show null values
